It is an event that is like a stimulating conversation between
the stage and the audience. This year it was group chaired by Cilla
Snowball CBE, group chairman and group CEO of AMVBBDO, and took place
at a beautiful location in Bishopsgate
I was not only showcasing my power dresses at the Inspiring Women Conference, but was also asked to give mentoring sessions in the lunch break to other inspirational business women.
What a great moment it was meeting Donna Loveday, the co-curator of the exhibition of "Women Fashion Power"at the Design Museum, which features clothes items from the past 150 years that have come to be associated with key moments in the lives of women in positions of authority. I dressed in my new red" Catherine dress", that is so only available by appointment.

This exhibitions shows and proves that women with authority dressed and dress for confident and strong outward appearances, that combines always their signature style. Their dressing code is always professional, appropriate for the occasion as well unique to look like a leader but never too loud that it is distracting from their position and person.
Donna Loveday says: "Throughout history women have used dress in a very deliberate way to express power and authority. We have tried to give a historical context and really introduce the whole idea of using dress to express power" .
Her interest was especially to include to wardrobes of contemporary women in power across politics, business, culture and fashion to contribute an outfit to the exhibition.
The result is that the exhibition is divided into three sections. The first section, the ‘Corridor of Power’, highlights 16 influential women from history, from Joan of Arc, Cleopatra and Boudicca to Angela Merkel, Michelle Obama and Hilary Clinton.
The second section presents a 150-year timeline of historical moments that have been important for womankind. It begins with ‘Freedom from Constraints’, which includes the advent of the corset, the Arts and Crafts Movement, the 1920s suffragette movement, the 1930s era of health and beauty, war time work, and the 1960s feminist movement.
The third section, the ‘Arena of Power’ focuses on 26 prominent, modern, individuals – including royals, dames, politicians, lawyers, business women and women in the arts.
The exhibition will run to the 26th of April 2015.
We were invited to attend"Fashion Capital's"
new Dragon's Den styled concept for new designers with NatWest. It is a
great idea to help and support new talents and get them started.
Fashion Captital relaunched as well their website, which holds a lot of
helpful contacts, advice and information from the fashion industry.
